The Logan Charles Award is an award to honor our special education teachers and paraprofessionals who enrich the lives of our children who live with Down syndrome. These individuals work throughout the school year helping our children learn their way, at their pace and in a way that benefits them as individuals, helping them to become self-sufficient, as well as helping them enjoy all social aspects of school.
The Logan Charles Award is named after Logan Charles, an 18-year-old Big Sky High School student who was called back to heaven on February 12, 2017. Logan participated in Special Olympics basketball, track, and soccer programs. Logan loved unconditionally and was one of the kindest souls you would ever meet. He touched everyone’s heart that he met. Logan and his father, Brent, had the most amazing father-son relationship, one that every father should strive to attain. Logan joined his mother, Carla, in heaven but leaves behind his father Brent, mother Mickenzie and his sister, his true love, Priscilla.
To be eligible to receive this award, the nominee must be a Montana special education teacher or paraprofessional who enriched the life of a Montana individual with Down syndrome.
The recipient will receive a plaque and a monetary award. The award will be presented during the Missoula Buddy Walk, which is held on the last Sunday of September.
